A local court has convicted four persons, who were part of a seven-member ‘terror module’ busted in 2017, under the Arms Act. However, all seven have been absolved of the charges under the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and Foreigners Act.
Defence counsel Navjit Singh Turna said Additional Sessions Judge Sarbajit Singh Dhaliwal held Maan Singh Nihang, Sher Singh, Simaranjit and Gurpreet Singh guilty under provisions of the Arms Act.
However, Maan Singh Nihang, Sher Singh, Simranjit and Gurpreet besides three others: Balwinder Singh, Balkar Singh and Satinder Rawat were absolved of the charges under UAPA and
Foreigners Act. Balwinder Singh, Balkar Singh and Satinder Rawat are already out on bail while the remaining four are lodged in different jails in the state.
As per an FIR registered at the Ramdas police station on May 21, 2017, Maan Singh Nihang, a resident of Samrai village near Shri Hargobindpur (Gurdaspur), and Sher Singh, a resident of Kartarpur (Jalandhar), were nabbed by the BSF and a huge quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered from them. It was alleged that the two had links with terrorists in Canada and Pakistan and were trying to recover an illegal consignment of weapons smuggled from Pakistan when they were arrested.
During the investigation, five more persons were named in the case. It was claimed that the accused were in contact with one Gurjivan Singh, an alleged hardliner living in Canada who had arranged the weapons from Pakistan.

A radical group named Sikhs for Justice has promised iPhone 12 for all those who wave the Khalistani flag and make a graffiti of the same on walls of educational institutions on October 31.
This attempt comes after the efforts of pro-Khalistan groups to use the farmers' agitation earlier this month to their advantage to lure in more supporters for Khalistan.
In a video that did rounds on the internet, Gurpatwant Singh, the General Counsel of the radical Sikhs for Justice group, promises an iPhone 12 with pre-installed referendum applications and VPN (Virtual private network) for students who wave the Khalistani flag or write Khalistan on the walls of educational institutions across Punjab on October 31.
Pro-Khalistani graffiti spotted
On Saturday, another pro-Khalistan poster has been spotted in Chandigarh. The poster was pasted on the walls of the bus queue shelter in Chandigarh's sector 16. The poster was immediately removed by the police, and an investigation has been initiated. Sources said that this is the third incident in Chandigarh and Mohali, and Police are tracing the people who are pasting these posters. Police officials at the spot informed Republic TV that the CCTV footage is being scrutinised.
Earlier on October 16, pro-Khalistani graffiti appeared at Sangrur in Punjab. The graffiti was made on the walls of government properties in Dirba village. According to the sources, 'Khalistan Zindabad' slogans were painted on the walls of a government hospital, a school and Panchayat office.
The locals spotted the slogans and immediately informed the police and later on the authorities blurred the slogans. Sources said that such incidents are getting reported every day from different parts of Punjab. Even though the NIA is further investigating the matter but pro-Khalistan activists remain active performing such activities, they added.

Earlier this month, the Punjab Police had busted a terror module of banned outfit Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF) by arresting its two cadres in the Hoshiarpur district of the State. They were identified as Makhan Singh Gill alias Amli and Davinder Singh alias Happy, both residents of Noorpur Jattan village in Hoshiarpur, Punjab Director General of Police Dinkar Gupta said.
The DGP had said that based on inputs about the disruptive designs of certain pro-Khalistan elements, who had plans to disturb the peace and communal harmony in the State by launching terror attacks, security forces had launched a major drive in the state to conduct raids and check the movement and whereabouts of members of various terrorist modules busted in the past.

About half-a-dozen pro-Khalistan pamphlets were found pasted in Sector 16 of Chandigarh Friday night. The pamphlets were removed and seized by the police, however, the people who pasted the posters are yet to be traced and identified.
It was the third incident in Chandigarh and Mohali, in which pro-khalistani pamphlets and posters were found pasted along the road. The special branch of CID wing of the UT police has been assigned the task of identifying the people behind the posters.
A team of Sector 17 police station led by SHO Inspector Ram Rattan removed the pamphlets. The footage of CCTV cameras installed near the walls on which pamphlets were pasted are being scrutinised, police officials said.
Sources said, “The CID wing has been assigned the task of tracing the people behind this act. Efforts are being made to ascertain the source of these pamphlets. Source including the printing press of such material. In Mohali as well, similar pamphlets were found but the writing style of one of the seized pamphlets was different. Though no FIR was registered, a DDR of the entire incident was lodged at the police station concerned.”
The red and white coloured pamphlets were titled “#Pledgekhalistan”, in support of Jathedar Balwant Singh Rajoana, a convict in former Punjab CM Beant Singh murder case.
The seized posters urged people to join ‘revolution Khalistan Zindabad’. Reportedly locals have been receiving calls urging them to indulge in insurgent activities for money. The intelligence wing is also probing the matter.

Shaurya Chakra awardee Comrade Balwinder Singh (Sandhu) Bhikhiwind (62) was today shot dead by two unidentified assailants on his residence-cum-school premises, months after the government withdrew his security cover.
Assailants opened fire on him while he was opening the gate of the school. He was taken to a hospital where doctors declared him “brought dead”. He had suffered five bullet injuries. The Bhikhiwind police station is only 100 metres away from the crime spot.
Tarn Taran SSP Dhruman Nimbale said a case had been registered and all possible angles were being looked into. The deceased’s family members claimed it was an attack by terrorists.
“Comrade Balwinder Singh was on the hit list of terrorists. Even after repeated requests, the police failed to provide security to the family,” said Balwinder’s wife Jagdish Kaur. Balwinder had fought bravely against terrorism for years. He had trained even his children to fight against militants. His exploits made it to the international media, including National Geographic. The Union Government awarded him Shaurya Chakra in 1993. “Balwinder Singh Sandhu and his brother Ranjit Singh Sandhu are opposed to the activities of terrorists. They were on the hit list of terrorists. The terrorists, so far, have made 16 attempts to wipe out the Sandhu family within about 11 months,” the citation for the gallantry award said.
His is the only family in the country that has received four Shaurya Chakras. Besides Balwinder and his wife Jagdish Kaur, his elder brother Ranjit and his wife Balraj Kaur also received the Shaurya Chakra.
Balwinder’s house was located near the ancestral house of Parmjit Singh Panjwar, self-styled chief of the Khalistan Commando Force, who was later declared India’s “most wanted terrorist”.
Panjwar himself led several attacks on the house of the Sandhus. Their house was attacked with rocket launchers hand grenades etc. for over 40 times. When the police failed to come to their rescue, the Sandhus decided to arm themselves.
“Terrorist attacked us numerous times and 42 FIRs were on record,” said Jagdish Kaur.
Though the deceased was a state-level leader of the CPM when he fought against terrorism, he joined the Revolutionary Marxists Party of India (RMPI) about two years ago.

The anti-terror probe agency NIA on Wednesday said it had conducted searches at six locations in Ferozepur, Ludhiana and Moga districts of Punjab in connection with cases related to cadres of banned outfit Sikhs For Justice (SFJ).
Officials in the NIA said during searches the agency sleuths seized a host of electronic items, including pen drives, laptops, hard discs and other incriminating documents.
They said the case related to hoisting of the Khalistani flag by SFJ cadres at Moga Deputy Commissioner’s office on the eve of Independence Day, 2020, and the crime was committed by the miscreants who were offered cash rewards at the behest of Gurpatwant Singh Pannu of the outfit for the act.
The officials said the premises, which were searched, belonged to accused Akashdeep Singh, Jogwinder Singh, Inderjeet Singh, Jaspal Singh and Ram Tirath. The cyber cafe belonging to accused Jaspal Singh was also searched, they added.
Later, in a statement, the NIA said, “On August 14, 2020, two miscreants hoisted a yellow-coloured flag with Khalistan written on it on the terrace of the four-storey building of the Deputy Commissioner Office Complex, Moga, Punjab, and while coming back, they cut the rope of the Indian National Flag hoisted near the main gate and dragged the flag along with the rope.”
It said that in this regard a case was registered at Moga Police Station on the same day, which was later re-registered by the NIA under various sections of IPC and Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honours Act, 1972.

Khalistani and Kashmiri terrorists plan K-2.Pakistan's terrorist boss and wicked agency ISI, has held several rounds. Indian agencies' plan is also ready to stop the conspiracy and catch their supporters present in the country. The Ministry of Home Affairs is considering setting up a Joint Counter Operation Center in Punjab. NIA, RAW, IB, Punjab Police, and Counter Terror Team will be included in this Joint Counter Operation Center.
In the past months, with ISI Khalistani supporters' help, a conspiracy is being hatched in Punjab to recruit youths into terrorist groups. The Home Ministry is also planning to deploy NSG Black Cat Commandos in Pathankot, Punjab. SAG-51 of NSG can deploy a crack team that has expertise in dealing with terrorists.

Pro-Khalistan slogans were raised at the Golden Temple complex on Friday during a function held by the SGPC to commemorate the death anniversary of Khalistan Commando Force (KCF) members Sukhdev Singh Sukha and Harjinder Singh Jinda, assassins of former Army chief General Arun Vaidya. They were hanged to death on October 9, 1992 in Pune’s Yerwada jail. Late Gen Vaidya had led Operation Bluestar to flush out armed militants holed up in Golden Temple. The bhog of akhand path was performed on the occasion.

The Punjab Police have arrested two wanted men in a follow-up action on the recently busted international drug and weapon smuggling racket operated by former BSF Constable Sumit Kumar, alias Noni.
A 7.65 mm pistol with Italy marking, heroin, drug proceeds, two mobile phones, two Wi-Fi dongles and a racing bike were recovered from the accused.
DGP Dinkar Gupta today said the two — Simranjeet Singh, alias Simran, (26) of Dhirpur village in Jalandhar district and Balram Singh (26) of Surakhpur village in Kapurthala district — were arrested on October 4 near Kartarpur in Jalandhar when they were on a heroin delivery mission.
The KTM bike they were riding had been stolen from the parking lot of a private university. A case has been registered against them at the Kartarpur police station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act, Arms Act and the IPC.
Simranjeet was an absconder in the murder case of a Kapurthala sand gravel businessman 10 months ago at Dhirpur village.
Jalandhar AIG (CI) Harkamalpreet Singh Khakh said the police had earlier arrested Amanpreet Singh of Dhirpur village in connection with the murder of Hamira village businessman Jagjit Singh. He and his brothers were in touch with Shah Musa of Pakistan, a cross-border drug smuggler.
During the probe, it came to light that Amanpreet had come in contact with Musa through former BSF constable Kumar, who had been lodged in the Gurdaspur jail in connection with a murder case.
The conspiracy to smuggle drugs and weapons from across the border had been hatched in the jail. After getting bail, Kumar was posted at a guard tower at the International Border in the Samba sector of Jammu from where he kept in touch with smugglers who were further in contact with Musa.
Khakh said Simran, who was the brother of Amanpreet, had admitted he and his brothers had shot the businessman. The DGP said three criminal cases were already registered against him while his accomplice Balram faced a case under the Arms Act registered at the Kotwali police station in Kapurthala. He had been released on bail from the Kapurthala jail due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
