In an press note signed by Baba Thakur Singh, Chief of the Damdami Taksal, it was announced that a religious Khalsa March would be organized on March 14, coinciding with the occasion of Hola Mohalla.

The Sikh High Priests announced that Mahant Manjit Singh of Jammu has been declared a "Tankhaiya" due to his religious misconduct.


India    02-Feb-1995

S.S. Mann was produced before the Court in Khanna and was remanded to Judicial custody until February 16. Party supporters chanted slogans in support of Mann and against the government.


India    02-Mar-1995

Prof. Manjit Singh, the acting Jathedar of Sri Akal Takhat, called upon Sikhs to actively participate in the "Bandi Chhor-Khalsa March" from Gwalior to Amritsar on the upcoming Diwali, commemorating the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh.

Under the leadership of H.S. Rode, the working committee of SAD (United) passed resolutions, announcing a protest march from Akal Takhat in Amritsar to Delhi on April 5. They also decided to present a memorandum to the President of India on April 6, demanding the repeal of TADA and the release of Sikh detainees, including S.S. Mann, Dr. Sohan Singh, and Kanwar Singh Dhami.

The Khalsa March commenced from Sri Akal Takht, and Bhai Mohkam Singh led a Ardas (prayer) for its success and the realization of its objectives.


India    31-Aug-1995

The Chief Minister of Punjab, Beant Singh along with 17 others were killed in a suicide bomb attack occurred in the premises of the Punjab and Haryana Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh. The suicide bomber, identified as Dilawar Singh, was equipped with a 7 kg RDX explosive belt. The Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) later claimed responsibility for this assassination.
