The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in a joint operation with Hoshiarpur Police, on November 7 arrested two active members of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang, identified as Swinder Singh alias Bodhi and Sukhman alias Jashan, and seized two Glock pistols, one Zigana pistol, and one PX30 pistol from their possession, in Dasuya, Hoshiarpur district.

On November 7, Punjab Police, on day 251 of its “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, registered 70 first information reports (FIRs), arrested 78 drug smugglers and seized 2.8 kg of ICE, 388 grams of heroin, 995 intoxicant pills and INR 24,550 drug money from the possession of arrested persons, across the state.

The Amritsar Commissionerate Police on November 7 arrested Gursevak Singh alias Sevak, an operative of a Pakistan-backed drug supply module, and seized 2 kg of ICE (methamphetamine) from him near Dana Mandi in Amritsar district. Police said Gursevak, a resident of a border area in Tarn Taran district, had been in regular contact with a Pakistani smuggler through encrypted communication platforms and acted as a courier, collecting consignments at pre-decided locations and delivering them within Punjab under his handler’s directions.

The Chandigarh Crime Branch busted two inter-state drug syndicates operating across the Tricity and neighbouring states, arresting 12 accused and seizing 1.2 kg of cocaine, 476 g of heroin, 2 g of ICE, nearly INR 26 lakh in drug money, gold and silver jewellery, a note-counting machine, six QR-code scanners, and five vehicles in two operations on November 7 and 19, in Chandigarh. Investigations revealed that both syndicates ran multi-layered supply chains across Chandigarh, Delhi, Zirakpur, and Punjab, sourcing cocaine and synthetic drugs from Delhi-based suppliers — some linked to African nationals — and distributing them through low-level peddlers. The groups used sophisticated techniques such as milestone drop-points, third-party UPI accounts, QR-code scanners, and segregated courier-style deliveries to evade surveillance and avoid direct buyer contact.

A Bloomberg Originals documentary titled “Inside the Deaths That Rocked India’s Relations With the West” claimed that the United Kingdom (UK)’s intelligence agency, Government Communications Headquarters (GCHQ), provided Canada with a dossier of intercepted communications alleging India’s involvement in plots to assassinate Khalistan separatists. According to the film, the Cheltenham-based signals intelligence agency intercepted conversations discussing three potential “targets” — Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada, Avtar Singh Khanda in the UK, and Gurpatwant Singh Pannun in the US. The documentary alleges that those involved in the conversations were “working on behalf of the Indian government.”

Punjab Police on November 8 arrested two persons, identified as Bikramjit Singh alias Bikram and Karanbir Singh for their alleged links with the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) and involvement in the murder of Italy-based Malkeet Singh and seized a foreign-made .30 caliber PX5 pistol, another .30 caliber pistol, a .45 caliber pistol, a .32 caliber pistol, a revolver, and 20 cartridges from their possession, in Amritsar district. On November 1, the accused allegedly opened fire on Malkeet Singh while he was sowing wheat with his father in Dhariwal village, Amritsar district; he later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. Police said Bikramjit has a criminal record and was involved in the 2018 grenade attack on a religious place in Raja Sansi. Preliminary investigations revealed that, on the directions of his foreign handlers, he had procured illegal weapons from across the border to carry out crimes in Punjab.

Amid intense campaigning for the Tarn Taran Assembly by poll in Punjab, politicians have alleged that overseas gangsters and terrorist organizations have issued threats to them, while also accusing the Punjab Police of using strong-arm tactics to intimidate candidates. Following these allegations, the Election Commission (EC) suspended Tarn Taran Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dr. Ravjot Kaur Grewal. The officer, however, maintained that all her actions were in accordance with the law. Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, has been given additional charge as SSP, Tarn Taran.

According to officials, Indian security agencies and Haryana Police, in a coordinated international operation, achieved major success by arresting two most wanted Indian gangsters in the United States (US). In the first case, Haryana-based gangster Venkatesh Garg, associated with the Kapil Sangwan alias Nandu gang, was arrested in Georgia. Garg had fled to Georgia after being named in the murder of a Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader in Gurugram and was reportedly running an extortion network with the Nandu gang. A Haryana Police team led by a Superintendent of Police has reached Georgia to oversee his extradition, which is expected to be completed soon. Another notorious gangster, Bhanu Rana, linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, was also arrested in the US and is expected to be deported to India shortly. Investigations revealed that Rana’s criminal network extends across Haryana, Punjab, and Delhi, and his name had earlier surfaced in a probe into a grenade attack in Punjab. Authorities have also identified several of his associates based in the US who remain connected to the network.

Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh has received renewed threats from the banned Khalistani outfit Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), led by US-based Khalistani extremist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. The group issued a warning ahead of his upcoming AURA World Tour performance in Auckland, New Zealand. The threat follows similar disruptions during his concert in Perth, Australia, on November 1.

On November 9, a pro-Khalistan rally organized by the banned outfit Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) was held in Montreal, Canada, with over 500 cars displaying yellow flags and chanting slogans like “Khalistan Zindabaad.” The demonstration took place ahead of the next phase of the so-called “Khalistan referendum,” scheduled in Ottawa on November 23. SFJ chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun announced on social media that the convoy marked the beginning of a “24*7 Khalistan action” from November 11 to 12, aimed at “challenging” India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
