A property dealer was shot dead in a brazen daylight attack near a gym in Sector 9 on Wednesday, triggering panic in the area.
The victim, identified as Chamanpreet Singh alias Chini, a resident of Kubaheri in Mullanpur (New Chandigarh), was targeted around noon. He was rushed to the Government Multi-Speciality Hospital (GMSH) shortly after the incident but succumbed to his injuries.
According to initial reports, two unidentified assailants arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire, pumping around 8-10 rounds before fleeing the scene.
Chamanpreet was reportedly stepping out of the Body Zone gym and had just entered his car when he was attacked near the slip road connecting Sectors 9-8 and the 18/17 light point.

Police officials rushed to the spot soon after the incident and cordoned off the area. A forensic team also collected evidence, while CCTV footage from nearby establishments is being examined to identify the attackers.
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and efforts are underway to identify and apprehend the assailants.
