Border Security Force (BSF) troops on July 11 recovered a packet of heroin weighing 570 grams from farming fields near Kilche village in Ferozepur district.
Police on July 11 arrested the brother of radical Khalistani preacher and chief of Waris Punjab De (WPD), currently jailed Member of Parliament Amritpal Singh, identified as Harpreet Singh alias Happy, along with Harpreet’s aide Lovepreet Singh and drug supplier Sandeep Arora and seized 4 grams of ice (methamphetamine), two lighters, a digital weighing scale, three mobile phones, a half-burnt Rs 20 note, and a silver paper from their possession near Phillaur in Jalandhar district. A First Information Report (FIR) under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against them. Police reported that Harpreet admitted to consuming drugs for three years, and a medical examination confirmed the presence of multiple drugs in their systems. They have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
Border Security Force (BSF) troops intercepted and neutralized a drone on July 10, recovering both the drone and a packet containing 566 grams of heroin in Kalash village in Tarn Taran district. The recovered drone was a China-made DJI Mavic 3 Classic.

Border Security Force (BSF) troops and Punjab Police on July 4 recovered a packet of heroin weighing 550 grams from fields near Roranwala Khurd village in Amritsar district. The heroin was wrapped in yellow adhesive tape, and a metal ring along with an illuminating strip was found attached to the packet, indicating it had been dropped by a drone.
Amritsar Rural Police on July 3 arrested a drug peddler identified as Jatin Singh and seized 2.5 kg of heroin from his possession near Maude village in Amritsar district. During the investigation, two more suspects, Sajan Singh and Daler Singh, were identified, and raids are underway to arrest them.
The Counter Intelligence (CI) wing of the police, on July 2, arrested three drug smugglers identified as Rasal Singh, Jaskaran Singh, and Amritpal Singh, and seized 5 kg of heroin from their possession in Amritsar district. The suspects were allegedly in direct contact with Pakistan-based drug smugglers, having retrieved the consignment via drone.
The Amritsar Commissionerate Police on July 2 busted a trans-border narcotic smuggling network and arrested a drug smuggler identified as Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakha, seizing 5 kg of heroin and a motorcycle from his possession near Amritsar in Amritsar district. Acting on reliable inputs, police teams arrested him while he was en route from Khemkaran to deliver the consignment in Amritsar. Lakha was in direct contact with a Pakistan-based drug smuggler named Ali and was actively involved in drug trafficking, using drones to transport drug consignments from Pakistan.

The police stated that the arrested individuals were directly in touch with Pakistan-based smugglers who were supplying drugs across the state via drones.
Punjab Police on June 29 arrested four drug peddlers identified as a father-son duo – Balbir Singh and Akashdeep Singh, along with Philpus and Jobanjit Singh, and seized 2 kg of heroin, INR 30,000 in drug money, along with a scooter and a motorcycle from their possession near Nupur village in Ajnala, Amritsar district. The police stated that the arrested individuals were directly in touch with Pakistan-based smugglers who were supplying drugs across the state via drones.
The Jalandhar rural police on June 29 busted an interstate illegal arms supply gang and arrested two operatives identified as Sukhyad Singh alias Yaad and Jugraj Singh, seizing 66 kg of opium along with a car from their possession near Sappan Wali village in Abohar, Fazilka district.
Punjab Police on June 28 busted a cross-border drug cartel operating in the border belt and arrested two individuals identified as Bachitar Singh and Sunny and seized 8.2 kg of heroin, INR 95,000 in drug money, and a Swift car from their possession in Amritsar district. Police stated that the drugs were smuggled via drones by Pakistan-based smugglers. Financial investigations are underway to freeze their assets and uncover the broader network of suppliers and buyers involved.
Punjab Police on June 28 busted a cross-border drug cartel operating in the border belt and arrested Amandeep Singh and seized 1 kg of heroin and a Volkswagen Vento car at a checkpoint at Ranjit Avenue Bypass in Amritsar district.
Mohali police on June 27 arrested three youths identified as Harvinder Singh, Ajvinder Singh alias Nag, and Santokh Singh, and seized 67 grams of heroin from their possession near Kumbhara village in Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (SAS) district.
Fazilka police on June 27 arrested two persons identified as Sukhyad Singh alias Yaad and Jugraj Singh, and seized 66 kg of opium from their possession at a checkpoint near Dalmeer Khera village in Fazilka district. The police stated that they were smuggling the opium from Jharkhand, and their accomplice, Tarsem Singh, has been identified. The accused have been booked under Sections 18, 27(A), and 29 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
