Tarn Taran Police on January 15 dismantled a Pakistan-backed drug trafficking cartel, arresting the kingpin, Rashpal Singh, and seizing 5 kg of heroin from his possession in Bhai Ladhu village, Tarn Taran district. Police confirmed that Rashpal was in direct contact with Pakistan-based smugglers, using drones to smuggle drugs across the border.

The Anti-Narcotic Task Force (ANTF) on January 15 arrested Gurpreet Singh Teetu, the brother of an aide to international drug kingpin Akshay Chhabra, and seized 1.2 kg of heroin from his possession near Radha Swami Road in Ludhiana district. Gurpreet, linked to a global drug network, reportedly continued smuggling operations even after his brother Sandeep Singh's arrest in 2022 for trafficking over 20 kg of heroin. Authorities are investigating his ties to Chhabra's syndicate, which is responsible for smuggling over 1,400 kg of heroin, with further arrests expected.
Border Security Force (BSF) troops on January 12 recovered a packet of heroin weighing 548 grams and a pistol near Tendiwala village in Ferozepur district. The consignment, attached to an iron hook, is suspected to have been dropped by a drone.
Muktsar Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Tripathi on January 12 arrested two unidentified drug peddlers and seized some banned pills, capsules and poppy husk from their possession, at a rickshaw stand near Kotkapura Road in Sri Muktsar Sahib district.
Chheharta police on January 11 arrested five drug peddlers, including a woman, identified as Jugraj Singh, Navraj Singh, Dilpreet Singh, Simranjit Kaur, and Manjit Singh Bhola and seized 530 grams of heroin, INR 10,000 in drug money, and an electronic weighing machine in Amritsar district. Investigations are ongoing to trace their network linkages for further recoveries.

Fazilka Police on January 8 dismantled a major intoxicating tablet smuggling network arrested four individuals identified as Raju Ram, Amrik Singh, Saroj Rani and Neelam Rani, and seized 2.10 Lakh prohibited tablets of Alprazolam and Clobidol tablets along with INR 1.70 Lakh drug money, a Balero vehicle and a motorcycle from their possession, at a naka (checkpoint) near Lamoochar Kalan village in Jalalabad (West) in Fazilka district.
Phillaur police on January 8 dismantled an inter-state poppy husk smuggling racket operating between Madhya Pradesh (MP) and Punjab by arresting two persons, identified as Buta Singh and Kulwant Singh, and seized 1.44 quintal of crushed poppy husk, at a naka (checkpoint) near Lasara village in Jalandhar district. Two accomplices identified as Bir Singh alias Ghona and Surjit Singh alias Jita, are absconding.
Punjab police on January 7 arrested four individuals, identified as Gurpreet Singh, Baljeet Kaur, Maninder Singh and Harpreet Singh, involved in the illegal trafficking operation, and seized 5 kg of heroin and two motorcycles from their possession in Chheharta Sahib in Amritsar district. The Police revealed that the accused were in direct contact with Pakistan-based smugglers and receiving consignments of drugs from across the border.

Police on December 31 arrested two smugglers, identified as Vijay and Malkiat, and seized 30 kg of poppy husk from their possession near Narayanpura village in Abohar in Fazilka district. The duo admitted to smuggling the poppy husk from Rajasthan for retail distribution in rural areas.

Punjab police on December 28 arrested two members of a narco-terror module being operated by foreign-based handlers who had also lobbed a hand-grenade at the Islamabad area police station in Amritsar on December 17, identified as Gurjeet Singh and Baljit Singh, and seized 1.4 kg heroin, one hand grenade and two sophisticated pistols - one 9 mm Zigana and one 9 mm Glock pistol along with ammunition from their possession, in Amritsar in Amritsar district. The module was run by United States (US) based Sandeep Singh alias Seepu and Pakistan-based operatives. Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) operative Jeevan Fauji, based abroad, had claimed responsibility for the attack on social media.
The Sadar police on December 28 arrested three individuals, including one identified as Kashori, while the other two remain unidentified, for selling "chitta" (heroin) in Shahbazpur village in Amritsar district. The arrests were made based on a complaint lodged with a video clipping on the state government's anti-drug portal under the "Safe Punjab" campaign.
