Police on July 11 busted a drug supply racket by arresting three individuals — Nigam, Jaspal Singh, and Satnam Singh — and seizing 1.625 kg of heroin, three .32-bore pistols, two country-made 12-bore weapons (kattas), 13 live cartridges, and 12 mobile phones from their possession, in Dhuri, Sangrur district, Punjab. Their accomplice, Gurpreet Singh, remains at large.

Amritsar city police on July 10 arrested a Hawala racketeer, identified as Laxman alias Lucky, in connection with the 60 kg of heroin seizure made on June 30, in Jodhpur in Rajasthan. Laxman claimed he was unaware that the funds he transferred were linked to the drug trade, stating he acted on instructions from his employer with ties to Dubai, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

Punjab Police on July 8 busted an international drug cartel by arresting six drug smugglers—identified as Lakhvir Singh, Rohit Kumar, Gurcharan Singh, Akash Marwaha, Ranjodh Singh, and Prabhjot Singh—and seizing 40 kg of heroin and a car from their possession near Mehna Chowk in Bathinda district. Preliminary investigations suggest the consignment was sent by Pakistan-based handlers for distribution across Punjab.

Police on July 8 arrested a youth, identified as Mohit, and seized 500 grams of heroin from his possession near Mubarikpur in Dera Bassi in Sahibzada Ajit Singh (SAS) Nagar district in Punjab. Police revealed that Mohit was residing as a tenant in Zirakpur and allegedly involved in heroin supply across Zirakpur and Dera Bassi areas.

Jalandhar Rural Police on July 7 arrested two gangsters, identified as Ajay alias Baja and Lakhwinder Singh, and seized 110 narcotic pills, two .32 bore pistols, five cartridges, and a motorcycle from their possession, in Shahkot, Jalandhar district, following a brief encounter. The duo, wanted in multiple cases of extortion, robbery, and attempted murder, opened fire on the police before being injured and hospitalised. Preliminary investigations revealed they were acting under the direction of handlers Joginder Joga, Navdeep Kahlwan, and Jarmanjit Singh, based in the United Kingdom (UK) and the United States (US).

Punjab Police on July 6 arrested a mother-son duo, identified as Charanjit Kaur and her son Balwinder Singh, and seized 1.8 kg of heroin, two mobile phones, and a motorcycle from their possession in Nihale Wale village, Ferozepur district. Police revealed that the family was operating a heroin smuggling racket with links to Pakistan, and one of Kaur’s other sons is already in jail on similar charges.

Amritsar Rural Police on July 6 arrested one individual, identified as Ravinder Singh and seized 1.227 kg of ICE drug (methamphetamine), a Glock pistol, an unregistered Hyundai i20 car and a mobile phone from his possession, near Jagdev Khurd village in Ajnala in Amritsar district. Police stated that Ravinder Singh and his associate, Armandeep Singh, who managed to escaped, were linked to Pakistani smugglers and involved in large-scale drug trafficking.

Counter Intelligence (CI) wing of the Amritsar police on July 5 busted a cross-border narco-smuggling module with links to Pakistan and arrested four of its operatives identified as Resham Singh, Gurpinder Singh, Rooppreet Singh and Shubhkar Manjit Singh, and seized 5 kg of heroin along with a Mahindra Thar car and a Hero Splendor motorcycle, in Amritsar in Amritsar district. The Police revealed that the accused were acting on the directions of a Pakistan based smuggler named Kaka, who used drones to drop narcotics across the border for further distribution within Punjab.
