The Amritsar Commissionerate Police on September 4 busted a cross-border drugs and arms smuggling and Hawala racket, arrested three individuals identified as Harpreet Singh, Gurpal Singh and Ranjodh Singh, and seized 2.02 kg of heroin, four pistols and INR 3.5 lakh of Hawala money from their possession, in Amritsar in Amritsar district. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accused had links with Pakistan-based smugglers and used drones to transport consignments across the border.
On September 3, Punjab Police, on day 186 of its “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, registered 56 first information reports (FIRs), arrested 83 drug smugglers and seized 631 grams of heroin, 6082 intoxicant tablets/capsules and INR 1000 drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 28,142 in 186 days.
On September 2, Punjab Police, on day 185 of its “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, registered 64 first information reports (FIRs), arrested 95 drug smugglers and seized 433 grams of heroin, 29 kg of poppy husk, 910 intoxicant tablets or capsules, and INR 3.5 lakh in drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers across Punjab.
Border Security Forces (BSF) troops on August 31 arrested a smuggler, identified as Sonu, and seized 14 packets of heroin weighing about 7.995 kg, near a naka (checkpoint) near Hazarawala village in Ferozepur district.
Jalandhar police on August 31 arrested one drug smuggler, identified as Manjit Singh and seized 3.5 kg of heroin along with INR 2 lakhs in drug money from his possession in Jalandhar in Jalandhar district.
On August 31, Punjab Police, on day 183 of its “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, registered 46 first information reports (FIRs), arrested 68 drug smugglers and seized 3.9 kg of heroin, 2.5 kg of opium, 962 intoxicant tablets/capsules and INR 2 lakh drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers, across Punjab. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 27,787 in 183 days.
On August 30, Punjab Police, on day 182 of its “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, registered 53 first information reports (FIRs), arrested 65 drug smugglers and seized 1.2 kg of heroin, 650 grams of opium, 150 intoxicant tablets/capsules and INR 600 drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers across Punjab. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 27,663 in 182 days.

Bathinda Police on August 28 arrested one individual, identified as Rahul Kumar and seized recovered 505 grams of heroin from the possession in Bathinda in Bathinda district. During interrogation, Rahul revealed that he had sourced the contraband from Ishant Kumar, a repeat offender with five drug peddling cases who is currently lodged in Kapurthala prison. Police have also booked Ishant in connection with the case and are investigating the supply chain further.
On August 27, Punjab Police, on day 179 of its “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign registered 68 first information reports (FIRs), arrested 99 drug smugglers and seized 985 grams of heroin, 21 kg of poppy husk, 1,625 intoxicant tablets/capsules, and INR 9,850 in drug money from the possession of the arrested smugglers, across Punjab. With these arrests, the total number of drug smugglers apprehended has risen to 27,409 in 179 days.
On August 25, Punjab Police, on day 177 of its ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign registered 61 first information reports (FIRs), arrested 76 drug smugglers and seized 525 grams of heroin, 2,258 intoxicating tablets/capsules and INR 2,000 drug money from the possession of arrested drug smugglers across Punjab. With this, the total number of drug smugglers arrested during the campaign reached 27,163.
On August 23, Punjab Police, on day 175 of its “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign registered 95 first information reports (FIRs), arrested 134 drug smugglers and seized 2.9 kg of heroin, 9 kg of poppy husk, 963 intoxicant tablets/capsules and INR 12,420 from the possession of arrested drug smugglers across Punjab. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 27,039 in 175 days.
Chandigarh Police on August 23 arrested one smuggler, identified as Sourav and seized 18 grams of heroin from his possession, in Ferozepur in Ferozepur district. He was wanted in connection with a narcotics case registered on July 15, in which 238 grams of heroin, drug money, and a motorcycle were earlier recovered. Police said Sourav sourced heroin from Vishal, currently lodged in a Punjab jail, and are probing possible cross-border links.
Barnala police on August 22 arrested four members of a group associated with Bambiha gang, identified as Satnam Singh alias Satti, Gurpreet alias Guri, Sarm Singh alias Rinku and Deepak Singh, and seized one Zigana pistol, one .30 bore pistols, two .32 bore pistols with live cartridges, along with a car from their possession, at a checkpoint at Khudi road, near Khudi Kalan village in Barnala district.
On August 22, Punjab Police, on day 174 of its “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign registered 55 first information reports (FIRs), arrested 87 drug smugglers and seized 509 grams of heroin, 1 kg of opium, 4930 intoxicant tablets/capsules and INR 57,520 from the possession of arrested drug smugglers, across Punjab. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 26,848 in 174 days.
Chandigarh police on August 21 unearthed a cross-border narco smuggling racket and arrested six smugglers identified as Pooja, Sameer, Mohd Juned, Nihal Singh, Sahibjeet Singh, alias Sabhu and Amritpal Singh alias Gopi, and seized 654 grams of heroin worth about INR 1 crore and 112 grams of cocaine from their possession, in Chandigarh. Investigations revealed the racket’s links with Pakistan-based handler Zubair Rana of Lahore, who coordinated heroin drops via drones across the border, with Amritpal Singh emerging as the kingpin of the syndicate.
On August 21, Punjab Police, on day 173 of its “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, registered 51 first information reports (FIRs), arrested 70 drug smugglers and seized 5.9 kg of heroin, 5 kg of opium, 2135 intoxicant tablets/capsules and INR 51,300 from the possession of arrested drug smugglers, across Punjab. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 26,723 in 173 days.
Police on August 21 arrested one individual, identified as Rachhpal Singh alias PK and seized 5.5 kg of heroin along with INR 50,000 drug money from his possession, in Zira in Ferozepur district.
On August 20, Punjab Police, on day 172 of its “Yudh Nashian Virudh” campaign, registered 63 first information reports (FIRs), arrested 98 drug smugglers and seized 954 grams of heroin, 81 kg of poppy husk, 497 intoxicant tablets/capsules and INR 5,770 from the possession of arrested drug smugglers, across Punjab. With this, the number of total drug smugglers arrested has reached to 26,654 in 172 days.
