On August 27, 1989, around 10 Khalistan Liberation Front- Budhsinghwala (KLF-Budhsinghwala) faction militants killed 18 and wounded 14 passengers of Ganga Nagar-Bathinda train at Kabarwala Railway Station in Abohar in Fazilka District of Punjab. The militants used AK 47 Rifles, sten guns and pistols to fire up on the passengers for about ten minutes, as the train was moving out of the railway station. The militants involved in the attack were identified as Gurdev Singh, Desa Singh, Rajinder Singh, Surjeet Singh, Darbara Singh, Hira Singh, Sukhdev Singh and Bachitar Singh.
