Avtar Singh Bramha

Avtar Singh Brahma was born in 1951 into an agricultural family in Brahmpura village in Tarn Taran District of Punjab. He had a primary level of education (until class five) and started worked in the family farm. According to available records, Avtar Singh Brahma joined the Khalistan movement in 1984, on the eve of Operation Blue Star, after meeting with Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale in the Golden temple. He after meeting with Bindranwale was able to leave the Golden Temple, before the operation began.

He was one of the founding members of Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), which was founded by Aroor Singh in 1986. He developed a working relationship with Sikh Diaspora, particularly of Canada and other western countries. After the death of Aroor Singh in 1988, Avtar sigh became the ‘chief’ of KLF until his death in an encounter at Manakpur village in Jalandhar District.
