Punjab Police on November 8 arrested two persons, identified as Bikramjit Singh alias Bikram and Karanbir Singh for their alleged links with the Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) and involvement in the murder of Italy-based Malkeet Singh and seized a foreign-made .30 caliber PX5 pistol, another .30 caliber pistol, a .45 caliber pistol, a .32 caliber pistol, a revolver, and 20 cartridges from their possession, in Amritsar district. On November 1, the accused allegedly opened fire on Malkeet Singh while he was sowing wheat with his father in Dhariwal village, Amritsar district; he later succumbed to his injuries in hospital. Police said Bikramjit has a criminal record and was involved in the 2018 grenade attack on a religious place in Raja Sansi. Preliminary investigations revealed that, on the directions of his foreign handlers, he had procured illegal weapons from across the border to carry out crimes in Punjab.

The Amritsar Commissionerate Police on November 7 arrested Gursevak Singh alias Sevak, an operative of a Pakistan-backed drug supply module, and seized 2 kg of ICE (methamphetamine) from him near Dana Mandi in Amritsar district. Police said Gursevak, a resident of a border area in Tarn Taran district, had been in regular contact with a Pakistani smuggler through encrypted communication platforms and acted as a courier, collecting consignments at pre-decided locations and delivering them within Punjab under his handler’s directions.

According to sources, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) continues to investigate the role of 11 absconding accused in the Babbar Khalsa International (BKI)-sponsored rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) attack on the Qila Lal Singh police station in Batala, Gurdaspur district, Punjab, on April 6, 2025. So far, no Blue or Red Corner Notice has been issued against them. Foreign-based BKI handlers—Harpreet Singh alias Happy Passia, Mannu Agwan, and Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi Navasherian—had publicly claimed responsibility for the attack and are among the absconders. Investigators confirmed that the probe against these 11 individuals is still ongoing.

Investigations revealed that both syndicates ran multi-layered supply chains across Chandigarh, Delhi, Zirakpur, and Punjab, sourcing cocaine and synthetic drugs from Delhi-based suppliers — some linked to African nationals — and distributing them through low-level peddlers. The groups used sophisticated techniques such as milestone drop-points, third-party UPI accounts, QR-code scanners, and segregated courier-style deliveries to evade surveillance and avoid direct buyer contact.

The Division Bench observed that the prosecution had failed to present “any worthwhile material” indicating a “meeting of minds or criminal conspiracy” between the appellant and the main accused, Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. To counter drug trafficking, arms smuggling, and drone infiltration along Punjab’s 553-kilometer international border, the state government has established a robust ‘Second Line of Defense’ combining modern technology, administrative vigilance, and public participation. In a landmark move, it has procured and deployed nine state-of-the-art anti-drone systems across border districts at a cost of INR 51.4 crore. These systems can detect drones within a 10-kilometer radius and locate their operators, making Punjab the first state in India to implement comprehensive anti-drone coverage. Additionally, the government is nearing completion of a project to install 3,000 AI-enabled CCTV cameras in border areas, with around 2,300 already operational to monitor suspicious activities and alert police control rooms in real time.

A social media post, purportedly made from the handle of gangster Anmol Bishnoi, surfaced on November 5 claiming responsibility for the killing of kabaddi player Gurwinder Singh alias Kinda, who was shot dead in Manki village of Samrala in Ludhiana district on November 3. In the post, two fugitives of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang — Aarzoo Bishnoi and Hari Boxer — purportedly took responsibility for the killing. Police also named gangster Ravi Rajgarh, currently lodged in Bathinda jail and a key aide of Anmol Bishnoi, as an accused in the case. However, Satinder Singh, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Ludhiana Range, commented on the social media post attributed to Anmol Bishnoi, stating, “It is probably an attempt to mislead the investigation, but we are verifying. We had already identified the four main accused in the case within hours of the incident. They had an old rivalry with the deceased. They are now trying to mislead the investigation by posting such claims in the name of Anmol Bishnoi, but things will become clearer after Ravi Rajgarh’s interrogation. Anmol Bishnoi is currently in the custody of the US authorities.”

According to sources, the special National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Panchkula, Haryana, is likely to declare gangster-turned-terrorists Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar and Randeep Singh alias Randeep Malik as proclaimed offenders (POs) if they fail to appear before the court on November 7.
