The Commissionerate Police Amritsar dismantled a cross-border arms and narcotics smuggling module with international links, arresting five accused, identified as Satnam Singh alias Bindi, Raman, Chirag, Rishabh, and Vaibhav and seizing 523 grams of ICE (methamphetamine) and two Glock 9mm pistols in separate operations at Gate Hakima, in Amritsar district. Satnam Singh was arrested on February 6, while the other four were apprehended on February 9 in the same area.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Satwinderpal Singh alias Lucky Oberoi was shot dead by two unidentified assailants outside Gurdwara Singh Sabha in Model Town, Jalandhar district, on February 6. CCTV footage shows one of the attackers approaching Oberoi’s vehicle parked outside the gurdwara and firing multiple shots at close range, hitting him in the chest and head. Both assailants were wearing black hoodies with their faces covered by shawls. After the attack, the two were seen fleeing the spot on an Activa scooter while speaking on a mobile phone. Hours after the murder, US-based gangster Joga Pholriwal, who is reportedly associated with the Sonu Khatri gang, claimed responsibility for the killing in a video posted on Facebook. In his post, Pholriwal alleged that Lucky Oberoi was involved in illegal activities and had taken refuge under AAP leadership. He further claimed that the murder was carried out over a dispute related to the Khalsa College presidentship and alleged that Oberoi was acting as a police informer and had attempted to harm members of his gang. Pholriwal tagged Sonu Khatri and several others in the post.

The accused had been absconding in a high-profile case involving the recovery of two hand grenades and pistols. He had jumped bail and was evading arrest before being tracked down and taken into custody during a targeted operation. Ranjit Singh is also wanted in the murder case of Bathinda-based social media influencer Kamal Kaur and was named as an accused along with Amritpal Singh Mehron.

Delhi Police on February 5 arrested two alleged members of the banned outfit Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), identified as Baljinder, an ambulance driver in Delhi, and his associate Rohit alias Kirth, for allegedly writing pro-Khalistan slogans at two locations in the national capital ahead of Republic Day, in New Delhi. According to the police, the duo acted at the behest of Canada-based SFJ chief Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, who allegedly promised them INR 2 lakh to deface public places with graffiti to disturb communal harmony and create unrest in the days leading up to January 26. Investigations revealed that the conspiracy was allegedly orchestrated from Canada, where a close associate of Pannun coordinated with the accused. The handler reportedly recruited Baljinder and Rohit and remained in contact with them through encrypted communication platforms.

According to reports, the Delhi Government has rejected the plea for the premature release of 1993 Delhi bomb blast convict Devinder Pal Singh Bhullar, following a Sentence Review Board (SRB) meeting held on December 23, 2025. The decision was formally communicated through a letter issued on February 5 to the Director General of Prisons, Tihar, stated that 51 cases were reviewed, of which 24—including Bhullar’s—were rejected.

Police on February 4 arrested two suspects, identified as Baltej Singh alias Bunty and Mangat Singh, for allegedly providing logistical support in the January 28 killing of Gurwinder Singh outside the District Administrative Complex in Mohali, Punjab. However, the shooters linked to the Goldy Brar gang remain at large six days after the incident. Police said the two assailants have been identified and would be arrested soon. Investigations revealed that the murder was allegedly ordered by gangster Goldy Brar, with the execution coordinated by foreign-based gangsters Rohit Godara and Vicky Pehelwan.

Police on February 4 foiled a planned extortion-related firing incident and arrested two accused, identified as Ankit Kumar and Harinder Gupta, and seized a .30 bore pistol and three live cartridges from their possession, in Sarkapur village near Nakodar in Jalandhar district. According to police, on November 11, 2025, Nakodar-based travel company proprietor Manish Bakshi had received extortion calls from foreign mobile numbers. The callers claimed affiliation with the Goldy Brar and Rohit Godara gangs and demanded INR 5 crore. Subsequently, on the intervening night of January 16 and 17, 2026, shots were fired outside his office allegedly over non-payment of the extortion amount.

The Counter Intelligence (CI) wing of the Amritsar Police on February 4 busted a drug-smuggling module with the arrest of four accused, identified as Sukhchain Singh alias Mani, Navdeep Singh, Sukhpal Singh, and Akashdeep Singh and seized 5 kg of heroin and two motorcycles near the Kala Ghanupur area in Amritsar district. Police said the accused were allegedly in direct contact with a Pakistan-based smuggler who was using drones to send heroin consignments across the International Border.

Rajasansi police on February 4 arrested two more persons, Davinder Kaur and Kirandeep Kaur, the mother and sister of Dubai-based prime accused Karan Chheharta, in connection with the seizure of nearly 43 kg of heroin, four hand grenades, and a Glock pistol in Amritsar district. With these arrests, the total number of accused apprehended in the case has risen to six. Earlier, the police had arrested Sonu, an auto-rickshaw driver; Mohit, a courier; Anil Poddar; and Ritik, while Karan Chheharta has been named as the main accused and nominated in the case.

A local jewellery shop owner, identified as Kartik Malhotra, a resident of Gali Gujran Wali near Valmiki Chowk in Jandiala Guru, Amritsar district, received repeated threat calls and messages from unidentified foreign numbers demanding extortion. The caller, who did not disclose his identity, allegedly demanded INR 30 lakh and threatened to cause serious harm to Malhotra or his brother, Ankit, if the money was not paid.

Shamsher Singh, father of fugitive terrorist Satinderjit Singh alias Goldy Brar, was on February 4 discharged from a private hospital in Bathinda and sent to Kapurthala jail. He had been admitted on February 1 due to cyst-related complications. Shamsher Singh and his wife, Pritpal Kaur, were arrested from Amritsar on January 26 in connection with a 2024 extortion case registered in Muktsar. After completing four days of police remand, the couple was sent to judicial custody on January 30.
