An industrialist named Sambhav Jain was kidnapped on November 17 by five individuals, two of whom were identified as Ravi and Mohit, in Laddu Colony, an industrial area at Noorwala village in the Ludhiana district. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of INR 5 crore. During the abduction, Jain attempted to escape, resulting in a bullet injury to his thigh and physical assault. Subsequently, the kidnappers threw him out of the moving car and fled without receiving the ransom. Jain is currently undergoing treatment, and the police are investigating the incident, filing charges against the two identified individuals, Ravi and Mohit, as well as others.

The NIA's investigations revealed links between members of the proscribed Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF), International Sikh Youth Federation (ISYF), and individuals in Pakistan, leading to the re-registration of the case in August. Both KLF and ISYF have been banned by the Indian government.
