There is a threat to the security of the jails of Punjab. A high alert has been issued regarding the security of the jails. According to intelligence inputs, Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Landa, who is present in Canada, can get Punjab jails attacked. Landa intends to release his comrades from jail, for which he is planning an attack. 

Intelligence inputs have also indicated that prison officials may also become targets during attacks on prisons. Because of this, instructions have been given to keep security tight inside and outside the jail.

In February, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced a reward of Rs 15 lakh for information on Lakhbir Singh Landa. Landa's name is linked to a terror case in Punjab. NIA officials had told that if any person gives information about Lakhbir Singh Landa, so that he can be arrested, he will be given a reward of Rs 15 lakh. Keeping in view the security, the identity of the person giving information about Landa will be kept secret.

Landa living in Canada

Lakhbir Singh Landa is a resident of Tarn Taran. He is believed to be currently living as a fugitive in Alberta, Canada. The NIA is looking for Landa in the 2022 grenade attack on the Punjab Police Intelligence Headquarters in Mohali. The NIA registered a case against Landa in 2022 after it received information that foreign-based terrorist organizations and terrorist elements were working closely with local gangs to spread target killing and violence.

Who is Lakhbir Singh Landa?

It is told about Lakhbir Singh Landa that the first case against him was registered under the Arms Act about 10 years ago. According to media reports, before the grenade attack, 18 cases were going on against Landa, including serious cases like murder, attempt to murder and drug smuggling. Landa is considered to have a significant influence in Tarn Taran district.

Landa fled to Canada in 2017 itself, where his wife was already living. It is said about Landa that he was not active between 2016 and 2020. It is said that during this time he was busy setting up his business in Canada for some time. This is the reason why his emergence in the media headlines in recent times has come as a surprise to many.
